There are a lot of health and fitness blogs out there that can provide the motivation needed to help you reach your goals, but we thought it would be fun to make a list of the top health and fitness blogs right here in the Philippines.
For this week’s dose of motivation we put together a list of our favorite blogs written by Filipinos. They range from subjects on diet and exercise to healthy recipe ideas, but they all have one thing in common...they’re valuable resources to help you along on your fitness journey.
So without further ado, here’s our list of 6 Filipino health and fitness blogs you should follow.
First on our list is a blog by Jaymie Pizarro called “The Bull Runner”.
When Jaymie started the blog, around the same time she got really serious into running, it was just intended to be a personal journal about her passion for running. Soon after it became one of the top running blogs in the Philippines!
Since those early days The Bull Runner blog has won numerous blogging awards and it’s easy to see why, it’s a great resource for running & health tips as well as news about running events around the country.
What we love most about Jaymie’s blog is her writing has a nice casual feel to it which makes her posts fun to read. Also a lot of her blog posts focus on tips for beginners making her blog a great resource for anyone who is looking to get started in the sport.
2. Kikay Runner
Next on our list is a blog by Noelle De Guzman called Kikay Runner.
Noelle is an avid runner who has competed in marathons, triathlons, and even completed an Ironman triathlon! Her blog is full of great tips on running or training for triathlons like this post on where to run, swim, and bike in Manila.
The content on Kikay Runner is great for both beginning and experienced athletes and it’s also a good place to read product reviews, enter one of the many giveaways she offers, or just find out when the next racing event is going on.
We highly recommend Noelle’s blog if you’re looking for some motivation to start your own fitness journey or you just want to stay up to date on everything that’s going on in the running and triathlete communities.
Coach Chappy’s Corner is a fitness blog by Chappy Callanta. One of his many credentials is certified strength and conditioning specialist, so his blog has a different angle then some of the others in this list.
Chappy’s Corner is packed with really helpful posts, including videos of various exercises you can do on your own. For example, he has a great series where he posts every day for 4 weeks with a different workout of the day to help you get in shape. If you want a challenge and don’t want to pay for your own personal trainer check out his “28 Day Laboracay Workout.”
Overall coach Chappy’s blog is a great resource for anyone who’s looking for some great advice from a fitness professional, and it’s all free, but he hasn’t posted any new content in a while which we would love to see.
Here’s another fun blog from a passionate health and fitness advocate here in the Philippines.
The Pretty Darn Fit blog is run by Nikki Torres who refers to herself as a “fitness designer and yoga teacher.” In addition to being a great blogger she also created her own dance cardio workout program called “NT Sweat.”
One of the things we love about the Pretty Darn Fit blog is that Nikki’s holistic approach to wellness really shines through in the content that she posts. Her blog consists of healthy restaurant suggestions, exercise guides, and even tips on how to live a healthy lifestyle.
We recommend the Pretty Darn Fit blog for anyone who wants one single place to get all of the advice they need to live a healthy lifestyle here in the Philippines.
Health Junkie is a relatively new blog started by Toni, a nutrition consultant and speaker who loves promoting the benefits of living a healthy lifestyle.
Toni really strives to create a sense of community on the Health Junkie blog. The content she posts includes giveaways, fitness tips, and she’s always posting about events that you can join to get in shape while giving back to the community somehow.
While the Health Junkie blog has only been around for a few years there’s already a ton of valuable posts that you can use to educate yourself on living a healthy lifestyle.
We recommend the Health Junkie blog for anyone who wants to stay up to date on the latest health and wellness events in the Philippines or for someone who just wants to be in the know about health trends.
The Fat Kid Inside is a fun blog started by Erwan Heussaff. Right away you’ll notice the beautiful design of the blog and you’ll sense that something is a little different.
The Fat Kid Inside is really a motivational blog to inspire you to reach your weight goals and educate you on how to eat right. In the blog there’s an entire section called “Inspiration” which posts stories of real people who have lost weight and how they’ve done it.
For example, in this post the founder writes in detail about his journey losing about a third of his body weight through proper diet and exercise.
In addition to being highly motivational, the blog is also a great resource for healthy recipe ideas. If you head over to their recipes section you’ll find a bunch of great recipes to choose from, most include videos which you can use to follow along with while you cook.
We recommend The Fat Kid Inside blog for anyone who needs a little inspiration to reach their goals and definitely needs some inspiration in the kitchen. We know that it can be hard to stick to a healthy diet when you don’t know how to eat healthy or what to prepare.
